A Public Trust
Paul Ramirez Jonas
“I will set up as a Notary Public and Gold Trader. I will certify any lie into a truth. I will write the lie down and ask people to swear that the contents of the affidavit subscribed by them are correct and true..”
Paul Ramirez Jonas made the United States debut of his a public installation “A Public Trust,” wherein he, acting as a notary public, offered to officially notarize any lie into a truth. In exchange for a newly notarized truth, visitors were asked to give some information and for payment in gold, which Ramirez Jonas facilitated by having a gold plating kit handy to transform standard metal coins.
