legend / legend is a site specific project that incorporates a collection of poems and drawings. We are exploring the relationship between constructed spaces in relation to historical contexts, and what it means to activate those spaces through interpretative transcription.
Justin Petropoulos is the author of two collections of poetry, Eminent Domain (Marsh Hawk Press 2011), selected by Anne Waldman for the 2010 Marsh Hawk Press Poetry Prize and (Jaded Ibis Press 2013), a collaborative work with multimedia artist, Carla Gannis. Justin was co-curator of Triptych Readings from 2010 to 2011 and a guest blogger for Bryant Park’s summer poetry reading series, Word for Word. He is currently the site director of an after-school program for elementary age children and is an adjunct faculty member at New Jersey City University, where he teaches composition and creative writing.
Carla Gannis is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.Her 2014 solo exhibitions include “The Garden of Earthly Delights” at Kasia Kay Art Projects in Chicago, IL and “The Non-Facial Recognition Project” at The Center for Digital Arts in Peekskill, NY. In 2013 she collaborated with poet Justin Petropoulos on a transmedia book, installation and net art project entitled <legend> </legend> published by Jaded Ibis Press, Seattle, WA. Gannis is currently Assistant Chair of The Department of Digital Arts at Pratt Institute.
