This Is The Year

José Joaquín García

In this action packed workshop led by New York theater practitioner, José Joaquín García, participants used New York born, Puerto Rican Martin Espada’s poem, “Imagine the Angels of Bread” as a springboard to explore ways of using theater and performance as a vehicle for social justice. Echoing a repeated line in the text, participants both spoke and wrote that “this is the year” to put social change into action.
